A stray cat who visited a family's backyard every week decided to take her kittens with her when she was finally sure that the people in that house were trustworthy.
The family, who live in Indiana, in the United States, tried to feed the puppies, but soon realized that they needed professional veterinary care.
According to the portal Love Meow , at the animal care center, it was discovered that they had a respiratory disease, stomach problems and were covered in fleas. Treatment was started immediately.
"With all these problems, they were becoming more and more lethargic and not gaining weight" , shared Catsnip Etc, the shelter responsible for the improvement of the kittens.
Catsnip has actively helped and rescued dozens of vulnerable cats in Indiana.
"The biological mother of the kittens must have discovered that the family's fenced backyard would be a safe place to keep her kittens and made it her home" , commented a spokesperson for the entity.
After a few months of recovery, the kittens were discharged and declared free of any illnesses or infections, including fleas. They are now in the care of Catsnip.
"The babies are still a little shy, but they love to run around the room and have fun with the toys ," the shelter said in a post on social media.
“Aspen, the mother of the puppies who was also rescued, loves her babies very much. She is very protective and always keeps an eye on them to make sure they don't get into trouble ," volunteer Missy shared. "She is very patient with them as they are climbing on top of her and playing with her tail all the time." .
"If we hadn't received them in time, I don't think they would have survived. They were so small and weak, they would easily have fallen ill without the correct treatment ", he added.
With proper care, good food and a comfortable temporary home, the little family of three is thriving. The feline brothers have already put on weight and gained a lot of energy.
Their fur 'coats' are healthier than ever and soon, they will be declared fit for adoption - preferably together.
