The barbarism of certain “humans” has no limit. The courage of the dogs and the generosity of the people who love them neither, fortunately. This sad story in Canada is the perfect illustration of this .
On May 21 , a dog named Mario was found in serious condition in Saint-Thuribe , in the city of Portneuf in Quebec. Less than 2 years old, the animal had been almost fatally injured by a pellet gun before being buried alive . In fact, it was his former owner who asked a neighbor to commit this heinous act.
Miraculously , Mario did not succumb to his injuries. He even managed to get out of his grave and flee, to be picked up a few kilometers from the place of his torture.
A small local shelter , run by Kathleen Marcotte , then took him in. The latter explains to the Journal du Québec that “ the x-rays are really surprising. He's really full of lead, body- wide."
True miracle, Mario is however not at the end of his troubles, because heavy care is still to come for the poor dog. A first operation was carried out last week and another is scheduled for next Tuesday , aimed at removing the remaining pellets and his eye , which was punctured.
X - rays show, in fact, that several dozen pellets are lodged in various places of his bruised body. Some “ have almost reached the aorta. If it got through that, it was over ,” adds Kathleen Marcotte .
If care goes as planned, Mario should be back on his feet soon and put up for adoption . Dozens of families have already expressed their wish to recover it.
In the meantime, a police investigation was opened by the Sûreté du Québec . Kathleen Marcotte intends, for her part, to do everything in her power to raise awareness “ people about the lack of animal services in the MRC ” (MRC: regional county municipality, that of Portneuf in this case). She plans to organize a march in order to mobilize the population. For its part, the SPA of Quebec has promised to help him in his approach.
